Thomas asks…

Flash video only converting select layers to avi, thoughts?

I made a flash video, want to upload to you tube. It’s only converting select layers, any thoughts? It has like the music and the background layers in the video but all the before layers aren’t there.

MIntel answers:

Hi there. I think this convenient tool can help you with your problem. It is designed for YouTube fanatics to convert any video formats MPG, MPEG, MP4, AVI, MOD, etc to YouTube FLV and SWF format. Then you can easily upload to all the video sites like YouTube, Myspace, Yahoo! Video, Google Video, etc. Very convenient & fast.

This YouTube Video Converter provides you more editing functions: get any time-length clips from video sources, crop the size of play region, join several files into one file, add watermark and take snapshot.

You can follow this search result for more details if you like. Full name is 4Videosoft YouTube Video Converter.

Sony Vegas Wont Show Video Only Audio, How do I get it to show the video?

I have uploaded videos from limewire, and mega upload, and some other sites like that. Mostly mega upload wont allow me to see the video, it only plays audio. It has been driving me crazy. How do I get sony vegas to show video?!!!!

MIntel answers:

The reason why Vegas won’t play the clips properly is because you’re trying to open a format that it doesn’t support. You could for instance have an AVI file with DivX video and MP3 audio and have another AVI with Indeo video and PCM audio.

Now, what all those things are doesn’t matter. You need to either convert your video to a format that Vegas will understand (losing some quality in the process) or update Vegas to be able to read your file.

To go with the conversion approach just try one of the billions of video conversion programs out there. There’s so many that I can’t recommend a particular one.

To be able to take your existing clip into Vegas, you’ll need to identify the sub-format of the video. This is called a codec. You’ll need to identify which codec the video uses. I’d suggest a tool like G-Spot to be able to identify the format.
This website shows exactly how to use GSpot:

Chances are your video is in DivX or Xvid format and there is a way to import these into Vegas. Rather than detail all the steps here, I’ll point you at this webpage which has detailed video explanations for the two different methods.

Joseph asks…

I updated Windows Media Player and WinAmp but several video clips only play sound. What can I do?

Even after getting codecs for the Media Player (before upgrading to 11), I still couldnt see video, only hear the clips.

MIntel answers:

Please specify the file format that you are not able to play, may the codecs are not installed. Trying installing the codecs from the site the previous user had given.

Try VLC, JET AUDIO, REAL PLAYER, if the problem occurs in these players,it means there is a problem with the video acceleration.
Right click on desktop, click properties/personalize(in vista),
then display settings, on advanced click adapter tab and check for the video acceleration, extend it to full.
Also open directx

click on display test all the direct3D, direct draw etc.,then run these videos.
I hope that your videos will properly but please specify the formats.
Warm regards,
DOGGY.

Jenny asks…

What is the best (and free) way to share video files which can only be accessed by my friends?

It is important that I can share the video only between a select group based on email IDs or a common login/password

MIntel answers:

Upload your videos, and set the permissions so only your friends can see. They also have an invite system so you can invite your friends.

Free! Try it out, but there is a size limit:less than 100 MB in size, one upside is that the length doesn’t matter so you can compress away.
